Sen.Spence on Healthcare Leadership - 9Health Fair
"My first job was when I was just 13 years old . . . working in a small family-owned bakery located on south Broadway and Alameda. I worked in the bakery throughout my junior-high and high school years while growing up in south Denver. That's where I had my first experience of holding a job and where I learned about hard work and commitment. Those same qualities of personal responsibility, hard work and commitment are the qualities that I bring to the legislature every day."
Serving on the Cherry Creek Board of Education provided opportunities for me to develop public policy, manage a multi-million dollar budget, negotiate with organized labor, and communicate with the public and the press. And this was while the district doubled in student enrollment.
Additional values I bring to the legislative process include solid inter-personal skills that stress honesty, trustworthiness, energy, and commitment. It is an honor to serve in the General Assembly and I'm excited to be working in the state senate on issues important to my constituents in Senate District 27 - from education to healthcare, and from energy to jobs.
