As the New Year approaches (as well as the snow storm!), I have been working hard on legislative bills and health care issues for the 2007 Session. It is going to be a great, busy and productive session!
I also wanted to give you a few updates and reminders:
- Denver voters have until TOMORROW December 29, 2006 to change their address for purposes of voting in the Janaury 29, 2007 Special Election. This will be a mail ballot election so your correct address is vital to receiving a ballot! (The Special Election was approved Tuesday evening by Denver City Council for voters to consider replacing the Denver Election Commission with an elected clerk.)
- My new Capitol office mate, Rep.-Elect Joe Rice (D-Arapahoe) and I are planning to have an Open House at our office on Janaury 10, 2007, the first day of the legislative session. Please join us for a cup of coffee from 8:30 to 9:30, and then watch our swearing-in and the opening day speeches from the Gallery. Our office is Room 318, in the northwest corner of the Third Floor.
- I am pleased to inform you of my legislative committee assignments: I continue to be Chair of Health and Human Services, Chair of the Committee on Legal Services until our reorganization in late January, and serve on House Appropriations. I am relieved not be a member of the Judiciary Committee this term, as it allows me more time to work on health care issues. House Health and Human Services is scheduled to meet Monday and Thursday afternoons from 1:30 to 6:00. Our new Committee Room is across the street in LSB A.
- We will resume our regular HD3 meeting the 3rd Saturday in Janaury, the 20th.
